LIV Golf may soon have a new broadcast partner as early as the 2025 season.
After two seasons with The CW Network and streaming platforms like YouTube, the Saudi-backed golf league is reportedly in discussions with Fox Sports, according to a report by Sports Business Journal. While LIV Golf’s agreement with The CW included a third-year option, the network has opted not to renew the deal.
This development comes as Scott O’Neil is expected to take over as the new CEO of LIV Golf, replacing Greg Norman, who has led the organization since its launch in 2022. O’Neil recently participated in the pro-am event tied to this week’s exhibition match featuring top stars Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, and Scottie Scheffler. Notably, he was seen alongside key figures such as Alan Gold (head of sports media at CAA Evolution) and Jordan Bazant (EVP of business development and media at Fox Sports), further fueling speculation of a potential deal.
LIV Golf has also made changes to its 2025 schedule, shifting the conclusion of its season to August instead of late September. This aligns with Fox Sports’ programming focus, as the network pivots to NFL and college football in the fall—making a partnership with LIV Golf a more practical fit.
This isn’t the first time LIV and Fox have explored a partnership. Reports indicate similar discussions took place in 2022, though no agreement was reached at the time.
Despite its innovative approach and high-profile players, LIV Golf’s viewership numbers have struggled to gain traction in the United States. In May 2023, the league stopped publicly sharing its ratings. A partnership with a widely recognized network like Fox could provide LIV Golf with a significant boost in visibility and viewership.
While discussions remain in the early stages, a potential deal with Fox could reshape LIV Golf’s broadcasting future and elevate its competition with the PGA Tour, especially amid ongoing negotiations between the two rival organizations.
