As negotiations between the PGA TOUR and LIV Golf's financial backer, the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), continue, it appears that some players might still be contemplating a move despite the potential merger.

According to a new report from *The Mirror*, LIV Golf is reportedly targeting two well-known PGA TOUR players. The speculation revolves around Hideki Matsuyama and Viktor Hovland, both of whom have had mixed results on the TOUR this season and could be open to exploring new opportunities.

Although Matsuyama recently claimed victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, his overall season has been considered below par for a golfer of his caliber. The 2021 Masters champion secured two wins this year, but with only seven Top 10 finishes across 19 events, the year fell short of expectations.

Viktor Hovland, another player mentioned in the report, is rumored to be considering the move as well. Despite previously stating that LIV Golf’s format wasn’t appealing to him, reports suggest that Hovland has given his agent permission to enter discussions with LIV Golf.

While the report remains speculative, it’s worth noting that similar rumors in the past have resulted in player transfers. For example, Jon Rahm’s much-publicized $600 million move was initially dismissed as speculation but later became reality.

As the situation develops, fans and experts alike are watching closely to see if these stars will make the leap to LIV Golf.
