Tyrrell Hatton ended a 3-1/2-year winless streak in spectacular fashion at LIV Golf Nashville, securing a six-shot victory with a final-round 65. His team, Legion XIII, also clinched their third team title of the season in a birdiefest.
Hatton’s triumph, marked by a 19-under total, ties for the second-largest winning margin in LIV Golf history. “Having not won for 3-1/2 years, you wonder if you’d be able to do it again,” Hatton said. “It’s a pretty special feeling to win again.”
Legion XIII’s captain, Jon Rahm, praised Hatton’s performance. “For all those out there who don’t know how good Tyrrell Hatton is, this is sure proof,” Rahm said. “It’s never easy to win, and to win by six in three rounds is quite impressive.”
Hatton started the final round with a three-shot lead, quickly extending it with birdies on the third and fourth holes. Although Rahm made an early push, a double-bogey on the par-4 sixth hole, where he found water, hindered his challenge.
Joaquin Niemann of Torque GC shot a remarkable 9-under 62 but was too far behind to challenge Hatton, eventually tying for third. “A three-shot lead isn’t the easiest thing to go out and play with,” Hatton noted. “I got off to a nice start and that settled me down.”
In the team competition, Legion XIII maintained a strong lead, with all four members shooting under par. Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC finished second, and Torque GC edged out Majesticks GC for third.
Legion XIII’s previous victories at Mayakoba and Miami came on more challenging courses. The Grove’s wide fairways allowed for lower scores, with Legion XIII finishing at 40 under, the second-lowest winning score of the season. This win moves them within nine points of the league-leading Crushers in the season standings.
Rahm admitted he didn’t initially believe the course setup suited their team. “Not that we can't win birdiefests, but those events have not been our thing. Of course, after I say that, we wind up with a win,” Rahm said.
