Kalle Samooja Eyes Dual Tour Opportunities Following LIV Golf Relegation

Kalle Samooja, one of five players relegated from LIV Golf at the conclusion of the 2024 season, has found a potential pathway back into the league through the Cleeks GC. Despite his demotion, Cleeks General Manager Jonas Maartensson remains eager to keep the Finnish golfer connected to the team. Alongside Samooja, other notable players like Bubba Watson, Branden Grace, and the Vincent brothers, Scott and Kieran, were also relegated after the season's close in September.

Maartensson spoke highly of Samooja, emphasizing his value beyond performance. “Kalle is a fantastic person and has been crucial to our team spirit. We hope to maintain a connection with him for as long as possible,” Maartensson said. He also expressed optimism about Samooja’s potential return through LIV Promotions. “I’d love to see him back with LIV and, ideally, back with the Cleeks.”

Samooja, who contributed to Cleeks GC’s first-ever LIV title victory in Houston earlier this year, faces decisions about his professional future. He could compete in the 72-hole LIV qualifying event next month or shift his focus to the DP World Tour, where he previously played and won the Porsche European Open in 2022.

Currently, Samooja is participating in the DP World Tour’s grueling Qualifying School in Spain, aiming to secure his spot for the upcoming season. His first round at the six-round event saw him card a solid two-under-par 69. Not new to this process, Samooja had earned his initial LIV spot through Q-School last year in the Middle East.

A dual-tour setup remains an option, but it comes with complications. While Samooja could theoretically compete in both the DP World Tour and LIV Golf if he qualifies for both, DP World Tour regulations impose fines and suspensions on players participating in LIV events without clearance.

Samooja's next steps, particularly regarding LIV Promotions, will be closely watched as he navigates this critical phase in his career.
