Nelly Korda preparing for LPGA’s Cognizant Founders Cup; seeking historic sixth straight tournament victory

Bradenton native Nelly Korda has returned to the golf course after a well-deserved two-week break. Her upcoming challenge is the LPGA’s Cognizant Founders Cup tournament, reigniting her quest to become the first woman to win six consecutive LPGA tour events. As the current world number one in women’s golf, Korda expressed the necessity of her recent break.

"I definitely spent a good amount of time resting," Korda shared. "The first few days were all about catching up on sleep. Mentally, I really needed the break after facing intense situations and high-pressure moments."

With the Suncoast community rallying behind her, Korda prepares to compete for her sixth consecutive victory this Sunday. Despite the historical significance of her potential achievement, Korda remains focused on her game rather than the record.

"To be honest, I haven't been thinking about the record much," Korda admitted. "The past two weeks have been busy, and I've been focusing on the present. I'm just doing what I love, and I hope that passion for the game shines through and inspires others. I'm not chasing records; I'm staying true to myself."

The Cognizant Founders Cup tournament teed off on Thursday, May 9, at 7:15 a.m. in New Jersey, marking the beginning of another exciting chapter in Nelly Korda's impressive golf journey.
