Cameron Young achieved a historic "round of 59" during the third day of the Travelers Championship in Connecticut, significantly boosting his position in the tournament.

Young closed his round with two eagles and seven birdies at TPC River Highlands, concluding with a flawless 59. This marks the 13th instance of a sub-60 score in PGA Tour history and Young's first sub-60 performance since Scottie Scheffler's second round at the Northern Trust in 2020.

The American golfer's impressive score brought him to 13-under par overall, placing him in a promising position to contend for his inaugural PGA Tour victory. Despite finishing as a runner-up seven times previously without a win, Young now stands poised to potentially clinch a title.

"It started off really well," remarked Young. "I can't say I anticipated it. I've played better rounds before, but today was unexpected. It was enjoyable, and I felt composed throughout the day."

Entering the weekend 11 shots behind leader Tom Kim, Young's third-round performance included consecutive birdies followed by an impressive hole-in-one from 142 yards on the par-4 third hole.
