With just two regular season events remaining, the race towards the FedEx Cup playoffs is reaching its climax. Only the top 70 players in the standings will advance to the opening round of the playoffs. From there, the top 50 after the FedEx St. Jude Championship will move on to the BMW Championship, and the top 30 from that event will head to East Lake for the Tour Championship.

Here's a look at seven notable players who are at risk of missing out on the PGA Tour playoffs.

Rickie Fowler

A six-time winner on tour, Rickie Fowler's most recent victory was at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last July. However, he's struggled recently, with only two top-25 finishes in his last 20 starts. Fowler is currently ranked 98th and is not in the field for this week's 3M Open.

Lucas Glover

The 2009 US Open champion Lucas Glover made headlines last year by winning the Wyndham Championship and the FedEx St. Jude Championship in consecutive weeks. He is currently ranked 71st after missing the cut at both Opens in Scotland this month and is not playing this week.

Luke List

Sitting right on the bubble at 70th in the standings, Luke List has had a tough season, missing the cut in 10 of his last 15 starts, including six of the last seven. He needs a strong performance at this week's 3M Open to secure his spot in the playoffs.

Davis Riley

Davis Riley won the Charles Schwab Challenge in May, defeating Scottie Scheffler by five strokes. Currently ranked 69th, Riley needs a good result at TPC Twin Cities this week to avoid being overtaken. However, with three missed cuts in his last five starts, he's under pressure.

Nicolai Hojgaard

The Danish golfer, a member of the winning Ryder Cup team in October, aims to make the playoffs in his first season holding a PGA Tour card. Consistent in making cuts but without standout finishes since January, Hojgaard is ranked 76th and not competing this week.

Joel Dahmen

Star of the Netflix docuseries "Full Swing," Joel Dahmen is ranked 109th and likely needs a win to make the playoffs. After making eight consecutive cuts, he missed the last two, making this week's 3M Open crucial for his chances.

Charley Hoffman

A four-time PGA Tour winner, Charley Hoffman finished T8 at the Barracuda Championship last week, moving him up to 80th in the standings. A strong result this week could push him closer to the top 70.

As the FedEx Cup playoffs approach, these players must perform well in the final events to secure their spots. The 3M Open will be a pivotal tournament for many, as they strive to extend their seasons and compete for the prestigious FedEx Cup.
